Raw meaty bones 🍖

Raise your hand if you’ve been told that feeding bones is DANGEROUS! 🙋🏼‍♀️🦴

Well, it’s not ENTRELY wrong. When bones are cooked the collagen (elasticity) is destroyed and the bone structure changes so rather than bending and crushing, the bone splinters into shards that can be very damaging to your dog!

🍖Raw, MEATY bones (RMB) However are unheated and unadulterated, and most still contain meats and marrows that would naturally be a part of its composition. When these bones are chewed and broken, they crush into non-jagged pieces that can easily be digested. Keep in mind that dogs & cats have GI tracts acidic enough to make quick work of bones.

❤️RMBs have so much to benefit your dog, but mostly they are an amazing way to clean your pet’s teeth (connective tissues act like floss!) and bones like feet are an AMAZING source of glucosamine & Chondroitin for joint health! Feed in moderation though because pets fed only kibble will not have as strong of stomach acid, and may have some constipation!

Raw Meaty Bones to be fed in entirety include:

🐓 Chicken & Duck necks, frames, ribs, wings, thighs, feet, legs, heads

🦃 Turkey Wing TIPS, Necks

🐷 Pig Feet, Tails, Ribs (in PAIRS, not individual)

🐐 Lamb & Goat Ribs, Tails

🐇 All Rabbit Bones

‼️NOTES: large Weight bearing bones (Beef leg bones, lamb femurs, Turkey legs, etc) should never be fed in entirety just based on the sheer size and density of the bone. Marrow bones can be fed recreationally as chewing bones, but must be appropriately sized that dog can’t eat, and remove when it starts to break up!

SMOKED & COOKED BONES ARE AT RISK OF SHATTERING!

👀 Always remember to keep an eye on your dog while feeding bones
